Hi, I’m Shani

I’m the host of A Single Serving Podcast and the author of A Single Revolution. I’m changing the narrative around being single, because so far it’s had pretty bad PR. I’m not an advocate for singlehood. I’m an advocate for women feeling good while single—there’s a difference.

5 Podcast Episodes For Singles In Quarantine

5 Podcast Episodes For Singles In Quarantine

Due to many technical and quite frankly infuriating issues, there is no new episode of the podcast this week. Trust me when I say I am troubleshooting to the best of my ability and will be up and recording again as soon as possible. Until then, I can’t leave you hanging, so I’ve curated a list of five episodes of A Single Serving Podcast specifically suited to this quarantined life we’re living. Also, the podcast hit 200K downloads this morning and since I can’t celebrate out in the real world, I will celebrate with you all in spirit. Thank you for listening to this podcast, supporting this podcast, and just generally being an incredible community that I’m proud to be part of. Stay safe and healthy everybody. Podcasts are germ-free, listen to them!

A Shouty Woman: One of my favorite episodes, ever, I suggest the episode featuring Salma El-Wardany because we need friends right now and this woman instantly feels like one. We’d never met before this recording, but you’d never know it. It was a joy to spend time talking with a fierce human being, feminist, poet, creator, and all-around inspiration. If you’ve been feeling kind of lackluster about everything lately, this is the episode you need.

Stick Your Face In Ice Water: Anxiety was a thing before lockdown, so we’re all intimately more familiar with it now that we can’t leave the house because of an actual goddamned virus! Dr. Jenny Taitz is a soothing voice (literally and figuratively speaking) in the professional therapy space who has some smart suggestions for all of us currently working on managing our day-to-day fears.

Underwear Are For The Weak: Jess Wilkins is my first-ever recurring guest, and just press play to see why. A Twitter friend who became a podcast friend who became an IRL friend, I had Jess back on the pod because she’s been such a good connection to friendship and reality for me during these solo quarantining days. We deep dive into what life is like for us during quarantine, and I just sort of felt better about everything when we hung up the phone. I will have her back again someday, if she’ll be so kind.

The Anniversary Episode: One of my absolute favorite moments as a podcaster was getting to bring my best friend on as a guest. It was basically like one of our usual conversations, just recorded and editable afterward. All interview questions in this episode were submitted by listeners, it was really fun to be interviewed by someone else for a change and to listen to her thoughts on this little adventure of mine. It’s also my longest episode ever which makes it ideal for listening to during chores.

Unf*ck This Podcast: One of the most popular episodes of the pod, ever, this one features Master Certified Coach and Thoughtwork expert Kara Loewentheil. When I said I was going to force Kara to be my IRL friend after this, I meant it, and now she is. Her work centers around our thoughts, and the things we tell ourselves that then translate to the experiences we have. Essentially, we can change our thoughts, and thereby change our reality. I’m very into this idea.
